A crucible of liquid brass is ready to pour into the molds. Looks hot doesn't it?
Sorry there is no photo of me pouring the
brass...can't pour and photograph at the same time! The following photo
shows the castings after they have been dumped out of the molds. The sprues and gates have not yet been sawed off.
Here are the castings...removed from the gates
but they still need quite a bit of work. I use a belt sander and rotary
grinder to finish removing excess metal from the castings
This photo shows how we managed to get a square peg into a round hole.
The last step, in this case, is to clean and polish the castings with a wire wheel. Don't they look pretty?
